If you look at the floor plan for this modern home from Bozhinovski Design Studio, then see the pictures of how it was realized, you’ll know that the old saying is true: good things really do come in small packages! Only 85 square meters in size, it provides space for two adults and two children in a clean-lined, modern, futuristic home. One thing not on the plan is a space labeled “kitchen.” That’s because this home mingles living and kitchen spaces: appliances are hidden behind pale gray cabinet doors and walls; the table neatly fits around a unique two-sided entertainment center. Furniture is based on a series of curves and cubes, and white or off-white throughout. The effect could be spartan — but look more closely and you see ottomans, bench seating, and space for guests, with tall windows making the space appear even larger.
Moving from the living/dining area down the hall, you’ll see two bedrooms, one a master bedroom and one a “children’s room.” That’s the one touch of color other than neutrals or white in this apartment, where the children sleep — with super-sized Smurf graphics on the walls and bright bedspreads. The master bedroom is similarly spare, but cozy; the bed is a marble study of platform and headboard in one, tucked in its own indirect-lighted alcove that holds a wall mural. Enclosed in one corner is a desk and chair; in another corner, a planter holds greenery. With peaceful neutral shades throughout, its mood is serene. The crowning indulgence, however, is the bathroom, all gleaming black tiles and white fixtures; its deep, pedestal tub just invites a long soak to relieve the cares of the day. So…small? Yes, this Barcelona spot is. But cozy? Definitely…for the whole family. Photos and information provided via email by Bozhinovski Design Studio
