When you’re furnishing the personal space for “little people” of all ages, you have a lot of concerns: comfort, safety, kid-sized scale, and adaptability as the littler ones become bigger ones. These kids’ rooms cover all those bases with style; they’re some of our favorite small-fry rooms seen in 2013. You’ve got “rooms for dreamers” (complete with a young lady’s magic wand), rooms peopled with favorite cartoon characters, and rooms where they can go to sleep surrounded by soccer balls, hockey players, or butterflies. Nurseries have cribs that look like circus wagons; rooms for slightly older kids feature movie posters, extra-large desk spaces, and bigger storage cabinets for athletic or outdoor play equipment. Another thing you’ll notice are two-level rooms, popular with kids and parents alike.
Rooms here have second “levels” above beds or along back walls, reachable by sturdy wooden ladders, either attached as if to a bunk bed or separate and movable. (Several have rope ladders as options!) And, of course, there’s color, from one end of the spectrum to the other — from bunk beds in lime green to corner closets in fuchsia pink, or platform beds of orange or yellow and white, to closets with broad stripes of turquoise or purple. Even so-called “neutrals” get a jolt of cheer in these rooms: gray-and-white star-printed bedding, paired with orange and terra cotta red on furniture, is both sophisticated and soothing. Whether you love a multicolored balloon print, Disney characters, or an “aquarium” on your closet door, these rooms offer all that, and more. Take a look and smile!
